Kendra’s Card Challenge #21 – Sketch #11 – Card #11

Hello crafty friends! Today I’m sharing Card #11 from Kendra’s Card Challenge #21, based on Sketch #11. This design was so much fun to bring to life using some of my favorite supplies.

For this card, I used:

• Paper: Doodlebug, Snow Much Fun

• Stamps: Elizabeth Crafts Designs

• Inks & Colors: Watercolors

I love how Sketch #11 encouraged creative placement and gave me a chance to play with colors and layering. It’s always exciting to see a sketch come to life in your own way!

Day 8 of 15 | Stretching Patterned Paper with One Sketch

Welcome to Day 8 of my Kendra’s Card Challenge #21 series!
This challenge continues to prove just how much variety you can get from six 6x6 patterned papers when you follow Kendra’s cutting guide and sketches.

Card #8: For All That You Do

Card #8 keeps the original sketch intact while focusing on strong pattern contrast and clean layering. The diagonal stripe adds bold movement to the design, while the snowman pattern from the Snow Much Fun paper pad brings in a playful, winter-ready focal point.

This card is a great example of how letting patterned paper do the heavy lifting can result in a polished design without extra embellishment. A few enamel dots add subtle texture and visual balance, and the sentiment strip anchors the layout nicely.

When working with layered patterned paper—especially angled pieces—strong adhesive is essential. I used Tape Runner adhesive for a smooth, secure hold that keeps everything perfectly aligned.

Kendra’s Card Challenge #21 – Card #7

Day #7 of 15 | Stretching 6 Sheets of Patterned Paper into 15 Cards

Welcome to Day #7 of my Kendra’s Card Challenge #21 series!

We are at the halfway point now and moving into the heart of the challenge. I am loving using the Snow Much Fun paper pad.

Card #7: Best Wishes, (Sketch 7)

This card is a fun example of winter-themed paper crafting. It balances soft lilacs and bold purples with a touch of magical illustration.

Design Layout & Style

I used a lavender card base with light lavender cardstock. The focal point is a watercolored stamp from Elizabeth Craft Designs against a background of stamped snowflakes and stars.

• The Sentiment: A crisp white banner with the words "best wishes", popped up for dimension over the candle.

• Geometric Contrast: The bottom-left corner is anchored by a diagonal collage of patterned paper including:

  • Bold purple and white stripes.

  • Multicolor snowflakes on a white background.

  • A soft lavender grid pattern.

  • Faint white stars on a cream base.

Crafting Detail

• Fussy Cutting: The candle and banner have been precisely cut and adhered to the card face, using foam tape for a 3D effect.

• Tone-on-Tone Stamping: The snowflakes on the background are stamped in a shade of purple just slightly darker than the cardstock, creating a subtle, textured look.

***Pro-Tip: Notice the small banner at the top right—it mirrors the patterns from the bottom corner, which is a great way to "tie" the composition together and lead the viewer's eye across the card.

Hi there Cakesters! This is my very first blog post ever!

OMG!

Well, after a few much needed weeks off from teaching I am about to get back on schedule. I have an advanced class starting end of April, which reminds me... I need to confirm with that group! I have a Candy Making class scheduled for the week before Mother's day and another advanced class for another group planned for the week after Mother's day. I need to add in some demonstrations to my schedule as well. Demo's, as I like to call them, help to introduce the classes to people who didn't know about them, live and in person.

Here is an example of what that looks like. Excuse my back...

I will do at least one demo in April on Candy Making. During that one I will dip some pretzels and make my

World Famous and often Imitated Marachino Mice.These are some mice, my friend Pat created after I showed her how. She made them for a dinner party and got raves from her guests and had to send me a pic. I told her she better! lol!

I also advertise on Craig's list and I have a Yahoo Group for all my students. I haven't offered an introductory class in a while and I have been hearing that alot of people are asking when the next one is. I think I might have to schedule 2 to fit all the people. Cool!

I will be back blogging weekly to start or more often as my following increases...tell your friends! I'm going to take this blogging thing slow and since I have posted only once since starting this blog in January (yes, January) I think posting weekly maybe a little ambitious. I am not worried though. I am excited!
